the system broke down finally isolated to a "CAMAC power supply
in crate 1 where tdhe LAM module is...
And then the Lam module didn't seem to work and the mich readout seemed
all gefuckted..
More trouble int eh CAMAC reading likely induced id guess in the flap to
not debug the mich camac card and find the bad -24V pblm.
I stole a CAMAC power supply from a crate in the C0 service bldg which
was laying around. Cyrus you should take the bad one back and exchange
tomorrow; I don't think I'd touch the CAMAC crate 1; it would cost a
power down and drisk of fouling up the LAM MODULE or the MICH CAMAC
card to restore;
Jon Streets I think or hope fixed most of the remaining readout problems;
of course he thinks I did in the tunnel; I really only laid on hands
AND isoated the 2nd mich crate from ground, etc and don't believe that
could have made the prdoblem we were seeing; alternate patterns of
16 ord 32 channels not reading out at all in ALL the ped histos.
I thought it might be bit 5 screwed up int he MICH cable but now think the
same in the CAMAC BR highway cable cured by Jon Wiggleing the right thing.
Yes its that flaky and with much fooling around can likely be de fixed.
But the long and short of it is we succeeded at great risk in getting it
going again and did not as per usual break something inthe process.
We also move one of the K CNTRS TO BE PERP to the beam and looked at
some of the Stonehinge cntrs; number "7" ? seemed to not have HV on it
ie it sort of worked when another cable was swapped on it; the cable
said 7 but perhaps should have said 6; if the right end can be found and
powered it might work; it also looked like the gain changed and there
might be a lite leak but we couldn't get causal with its changes..
it would go from high gain lots of single photon noise to lower gain less
noise but maybe just less gain every 10-60 sec and not really correlate
d with mech or shade type disturbance; we ran out of gumption and time.
AT 1630 the peds looked better than ever; I'm aprehensive this is a very
stable condition.
They are just now getting ready for a shot setup having had a proton only
store in; and jsut went into quiet time; I'll check the RF and T0 times
before leaving.
