In my last message I meant to suggest changing chambers 22 and 13 by
90 degrees and 21 by 10 degrees.
To demonstrate a class of events where we would gain much by having v
chambers, I have put on my web page several events that are somewhat
interesting. Look under (kens page/Interesting gamma ray events) you can
also pick up the .ps on fnmine in the directory
/home/minimax/www/Internal/kd/interest.ps The file is generated using
my event display. The first event should be disregarded.
These events typically consist of many unresolved ( n>3) gamma ray
conversions in the Pb. Typically we see a saturation in u over at least
one to two inches. When this happens, our lack of v resolution causes us
to reconstruct tracks over the width of the detector in v.
Using the calorimeter display we typically see at least one cell with a
saturated adc and several other cells with large e loss clustered nearby.
Having v chambers for events like these would at least clue us in to
whether these are simply 2-3 closeby conversions or more than that....
